What is World Tennis League 2025?
The World Tennis League 2025 is a prestigious mixed-gender exhibition tennis tournament featuring the world’s top ATP and WTA players in an exciting team format. After three successful editions in UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), the WTL makes its historic India debut in Bengaluru from December 17-20, 2025.
This fourth edition features 16 world-class players divided into 4 teams — Eagles, Falcons, Hawks, and Kites. What makes World Tennis League special is its unique format where each team has 2 male and 2 female players, with Indian tennis stars competing alongside global Grand Slam champions.
The tournament is co-founded by Indian tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi and licensed by Iconik Sports and Events Ltd. With stars like Daniil Medvedev (Former World No.1), fan-favorite Nick Kyrgios, and India’s top player Sumit Nagal, World Tennis League 2025 promises four days of electrifying tennis action.
WTL 2025 Tournament Format Explained
Understanding the World Tennis League format helps you follow every match:
Round Robin Stage (Dec 17-19): All 4 teams play against each other once, totaling 6 matches over 3 days. The top 2 teams qualify for the final.
Each Tie Consists Of:
- 1 Men’s Singles set
- 1 Women’s Singles set
- 2 Doubles sets (Men’s/Women’s/Mixed — captain’s choice after coin toss)
Unique Scoring System: Every game won counts as 1 point. The team with most total games wins the tie. If the fourth set winner is still trailing, an overtime game is played. If games are tied, a first-to-10 super tiebreak decides the winner (worth 1 game + 2 bonus points).
Final (Dec 20): Top 2 teams battle for the championship at 6:00 PM IST.
